When the amount of energy burned in exercise was accounted for, sporty individuals took in fewer calories, 421 calories overall, in contrast to 565 calories for the less active group.

The levels of hormones PYY, GLP-1 and PP (which inform the brain as to when the stomach is full) increased during and straight after exercise. Research participants stated that they felt less hungry at those specific times.

Even when people eat more after exercise they still lose weight after working out.

The recommended amount of exercise is at least 30 minutes a day on five or more days per week, although this may vary depending on the individual and their diet.
