Men are Less Supportive to Partners in terms of Dieting
Recent American research has demonstrated that, out of 6,000 participants in a study of dietary habits, 70% of female respondents found it difficult to get any support from partners. On the other hand, only 5% of male participants found it difficult to get support from their partners.
Women are naturally more caring. Therefore, they are more amenable to not buying tempting calorie-ridden foods, altering cooking habits and ensuring that there are diet friendly choices when eating out at restaurants.
Men are more likely not to change their diet to be more sensitive to their partners’ dietary needs. Of course, most men are not on the whole trying to thwart their partners’ attempts at dieting!
However, recent research has highlighted that some men do get jealous at their partners’ weight loss as it may render them more attractive to the male species or they may want to be out and about more, changing the balance of family life.
Whichever your gender, it is important to get your partner’s support when dieting. It is also advisable to identify and communicate how those close to you can be supportive.
