According to new research, a common spice could have strong anti-carcinogenic affects on the body. Involving turmeric as part of a diet could be an essential way of fighting cancer .

Turmeric contains an active molecule called curcumin, a major cancer preventative agent. Turmeric, which is incredibly common in Indian cuisine (where it is called haldi), is also used to treat various diseases .

Indians eat a daily average of 2 grams of turmeric per person, involving it as a major part of their daily diet . Due to its anti-carcinogenic affects, the spice could be the reason behind relatively low levels of cancer amongst inhabitants of India .

The spice fights cancer in a number of different ways, inhibiting the growth of cancer cells, and even killing them off, as well as inhibiting angiogenesis and inflammation.
