Turmeric contains an active molecule called curcumin, a major cancer preventative agent. Turmeric, which is incredibly common in Indian cuisine (where it is called haldi), is also used to treat various diseases .
Indians eat a daily average of 2 grams of turmeric per person, involving it as a major part of their daily diet . Due to its anti-carcinogenic affects, the spice could be the reason behind relatively low levels of cancer amongst inhabitants of India .
