Obesity and the public's diet habits are always in the news.
With that in the forefront of its considerations, a main health charity, The Royal Society for Public Health (RSPH), has endorsed Let's Get Cooking, a national network of cooking clubs teaching children and their families how to cook great, healthy food.
Healthy eating is something we hear a lot of. Nonetheless, not many of us are able to prepare nutritious, healthy meals .
The Let's Get Cooking clubs are backed by £20m from the Big Lottery Fund .
They are a great, fun way to address people's inability to cook healthy meals from scratch, enabling children as well as their families to gain the confidence they need to cook delicious, nutritious meals.
The Let's Get Cooking programme, led by the School Food Trust, ought to have signed up 5,000 school-based cooking clubs, in an attempt to teach new cooking skills to a million plus children, their families and interested community members.
The RSPH has endorsed the two-day, demonstrator training course for adult leaders of its full member clubs, of which it is considered there will be about 6,000 by 2011.
This accreditation is a wonderful step in the right direction.
