Diet cutting calories improves memory

According to recent diet reports, cutting what one eats by a third every day could improve memory function, according to a team of German researchers. The team introduced the lower-fat diet to 50 elderly volunteers and tested their memory several months later.
The results were published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences journal, and found significant memory improvement. Dietitians have warned that reducing food in this way could harm health .
The research team reportedly commented: “To our knowledge, the current results provide first experimental evidence in humans that caloric restriction improves memory in the elderly. The present findings may help to develop new prevention and treatment strategies for maintaining cognitive health into old age.”
