More protein and fewer carbohydrates affect the body positively by reducing belly fat and increasing lean muscle, especially when the proteins derive from dairy products.
These are the findings of brand new research which compared three groups of obese and overweight, yet healthy, pre-menopausal women.
Each ate little, moderate or a lot of dairy food along with higher or lower quantities of protein and carbohydrates in their diet.
The women exercised daily for four months, including five days of aerobic exercise and two days of circuit weightlifting.
The researchers stated that all the women incurred identical total weight loss, however, the higher-protein; high-dairy group lost more whole-body fat and fat around their abdomen, greater lean mass gains and increased in strength.
Researchers found the group on less protein and dairy group lost approximately a pound and half of muscle, compared to the less-protein, medium dairy group which lost practically no muscle. On the other hand, the higher-protein, high-dairy group in fact put on a pound and half of muscle, highlighting a three-pound difference between the low and high-dairy groups.
