There are many diet myths. Here we look at some of them.
People believe that milk is good for dieting purposes. People believe calcium in the body helps break down fat more effectively thus helping weight loss. However, many researchers have indicated that consuming milk does not lower calorie count. It is best to use low fat versions of milk and other dairy products.
It is commonly thought that eating a heavy breakfast and a light dinner is best for losing weight. This idea is based on how our bodies need more energy in the day and less in the night as we go to sleep. This makes good sense, yet it cannot be a stand-alone approach to weight loss. A healthy diet and exercise are crucial too.
Lots of people think that coffee lowers weight. This is not so. More than four or five cups a day increases your blood pressure and makes you restless and anxious.
It is common myth that pasta is fattening. However, in moderate quantities pasta is fine. It is the hidden calories in the cheese and butter accompanying the pasta that are fattening. There are valuable nutrients in pasta which are essential for our health .
Many people believe that avoiding food after 8 p.m. is a must. It does not matter what time you eat as the body digests and uses calories in the same way. It is more important what you eat and not when you eat it.
