New research highlights that men who consume lots of fruits and grain and reduce their intake of red meat and alcohol are more likely to be successful with regard to vitro fertilisation.
The study emphasises that poor diets and obesity can reduce sperm concentration and adversely impact their capacity to swim towards an egg.
Previously female fertility problems have been associated with obesity, poor diets, alcohol intake and smoking. However, it is not been clear up to now whether or not the same is applicable to men.
This recent study of men with partners, undergoing fertility treatment, has shown that those who frequently binged on alcohol and maintained unhealthy diets were hampered in terms of fertility front.
250 men with their partners who were undergoing a kind of fertility treatment known as intracytoplasmic sperm injection participated in this research.
