My weight problem did not start overnight; it started approximately 30 years ago after having my children! I tried lots of diet clubs and had some success with Rosemary Conley for a while. However, as you are allowed to eat snacks at night time, I found myself having one, then another and another. I felt very uncomfortable, lacked energy and was really fed up, despite putting on a happy face at the time!
Just a year ago, my brother died suddenly. Therefore, my family insisted we all had our blood pressure checked out. I was diagnosed with high blood pressure and prescribed medication to keep my blood pressure in check. I was also advised to lose some weight. On one occasion, I walked to the top of a multi-storey car park with my boss. By the time I got to the top I was unable to speak. It was then I realised I had to do something about my weight!’
I was not keen on joining a diet club, so, I thought I’d surf the net. That’s when I found The Diet Plate® and started to read testimonies from individuals who had used it. I found the idea appealing; eating what you like, however, in smaller portions. So, I ordered the plate and the bowl online.
To begin with I found the portions to be slightly small, however, I soon got used to piling lots of salad and vegetables on my plate and began to feel full. That is actually one of the best things about this method; it is so simple and it encouraged me to eat lots of fruit and vegetables!
Remaining motivated was not a big problem because I never felt hungry. As nothing is banned, I did not feel deprived either. I appreciated the fact that using The Diet Plate® is something I could do privately without having to join a diet club. You can eat alongside your family; even eat the same meals as them, as long as you follow the portion guidelines on your plate.
Kay, the inventor of The Diet Plate, was available to offer me support when I got stuck. Even though I did not follow a formal exercise plan, I attempted to be more active to quicken weight loss. I did not struggle to stay on track because I had gotten used to eating the right proportions of foods. Astonishingly, I discovered that I actually enjoy food more now than I used to. I presently eat various vegetables, so my diet is more interesting than before.
After two months, people at work started to notice that I was getting slimmer and they kept on asking me, “How are you doing that?” When they found out, some of them bought their own plate! Their compliments really boosted me. My doctor had set a personal weight target for me of 11 ˝ st. When I got there, he wrote in my notes ‘Chrissie looks absolutely fantastic. Well done – keep it up!’
I feel so much better now, in lots of ways. I did not truly believe I could change. However, I have proved myself wrong. The first time I looked at my reflection in a full-length mirror, I could not believe it was me. I had gone down from a size 20 to a 12 which has made an immense difference to the kind of clothes I can now wear!
Losing weight has also altered my mindset towards food. I used to think about food constantly, however, now when the cream cakes come out at work, I can turn them down easily. In fact, my willpower has increased and I can refuse chocolate and cake with ease. They actually make me feel pretty sick. When I do have something sweet, it is just a tiny taster.
I now understand the impact healthy food choices have on my body. I do not wish to lose this 'feel good' factor by making poor choices. Losing weight has provided me with the courage to make major changes in my life. I feel much more positive and confidence and I smile more and enjoy life to the fullest.
My advice to anybody who wishes to be slimmer is, go for it. You have absolutely nothing to lose, but weight! Try The Diet Plate® for yourself. I am so confident now; I do not wish to go back to the old me. If I have been able to do it and feel this way, then you can too can! I can recommend The Diet Plate® to anyone who wishes to be healthy and savour all that life has to offer.
