Top Tips for a Healthy Chinese Winter

Winter Exercise

Winter is high time for indoor exercise and internally rejuvenating and energy-accumulating practices like tai chi, yoga, qi gong and breath meditation. They all help the flexibility and mobility of your joints and spine, keeping your energy in good circulation and maintaining your health and vitality.

For Good Sleep

Warm feet are a great way to ensure a good sleep. Try to soak your feet for at least 20 minutes prior to going bed, with 2 tablespoons of vinegar.

Try to make sure that the water covers your ankles. Soak your feet till the skin of our feet turns pink. This is fantastic for insomnia as well as for boosting circulation.

Try to make sure that you are in your bed by 11:30pm max. Midnight is when the yin/yang changeover happens so the earlier you go to bed the better your quality of sleep.

Chinese Cold Remedy

Should you get wet or can feel a cold about to take hold take 2 or 3 spring onions, 25g (1oz) of fresh sliced ginger and cook in water for 5 minutes. Drink about 2 cups of it.

Drink a nourishing soup. You can make this soup using brown rice and sesame seeds. Use walnuts if you are vegetarian and lamb if you are non-vegetarian. All these ingredients are great for re-energising the kidneys. You need to avoid this soup should you suffer from any inflammatory skin condition.
