Diet and Bulimia

People who suffer from bulimia nervosa often have periods of binging and then purging.

They might consume a lot of food within a short period of time. They may take such things as laxatives or make themselves vomit as they find dealing with their emotions overwhelming.

As some people with bulimia are unable to cope with their emotions effectively, they punish themselves. Instead of dealing with their emotions or talking about the way they feel, they binge and purge so that they do not need to deal with feelings of depression, anxiety, stress or anger. Many bulimics are aware that they have an eating disorder.
