Edible Nuts and Seeds

Edible Nuts and Seeds

There are lots of edible nuts and seeds available and are an important part of a healthy diet.

Nuts and seeds are a great snack food and are super healthy too. They are a good source of many nutrients such as protein, fibre, Vitamin B & E as well as minerals and antioxidants. Nuts and seeds are also high in monosaturated fats, which is good for the heart and some are good sources of omega-3 fatty acids.

Many health benefits can be achieved by eating edible nuts and seeds regularly, this includes managing high blood pressure, high cholesterol, Alzheimer's, arthritis, dementia, digestive disorders, heart disease, cardiovascular disease, obesity, and osteoporosis.

When eating nuts and seeds, it is best to eat them raw, as cooking destroys most of the nutrients they contain.

Although nuts and seeds form part of a healthy diet, eat them in moderation as they are high in calories and fats.
