Diet can influence sex of offspring

According to a new study, eating certain types of food before conception could influence the sex of baby that a woman gives birth to. The study, conducted on mice, could add credence to many an old wives tale regarding what food expectant mothers should eat to govern the sex of their baby.
The study was conducted by the University of Pretoria in South Africa, and examined how altering diet could influence ratio of different sex ratios. The study team reduced blood sugar levels amongst female mice during their conception period.
The team fed mice water dosed with dexamethasone and found of this group a considerable proportion had female children . The way in which blood sugar levels causes the birth of different sexes amongst mice remains to be seen.
