According to an alarming new study, less than one of every 100 Brits eats a healthy diet .
Shockingly, some 99.2 per cent of British people fail to meet the key five indicators of a healthy diet, as set out by the World Health Organisation. Eating a bad diet, experts warn, could increase the risk of diseases such as heart disease, cancer and diabetes .
Furthermore, the research team said, British people will take generations to change their eating habits. The findings were gleaned in a Food Standards Agency National Diet and Nutrition Study.
Just 12 per cent eat recommended fruit and veg, whilst just 18 per cent consumer the right level of saturated fat, only one quarter has the right level of salt intake, and the dietary problems extended across women, men and children.
