According to recent diet news, eating a diet rich in mushrooms could help people to lose weight after the festive season. A team of volunteers ate mushrooms instead of meat in four otherwise identical meals.
The trial was led by a dietician called Sarah Schenker, and commissioned by the Mushroom Bureau, an association that helps to market mushroom growers produce throughout the UK.
Schenker was reported as commenting: “Mushrooms make a fantastic low-density meat substitute and can assist dieters without them having to radically change their eating patterns. Mushrooms are also great value for money .”
Mushrooms are also a great source of Vitamin D .
