Lack of vitamins in diet can cause cancer and obesity

According to a recent report by an American researcher, eating a diet with a chronic deficiency of vitamins and other types of micronutrient could greatly increase the risk of developing chronic diseases such as obesity, not to mention cancer .
Professor Bruce Ames, who conducted the research from the University of California, Berkeley, claimed that most people lacked at least one of the forty essential micronutrients for a healthy diet.
Ames said that taking supplements could go some way in offsetting this damage. Lack of micronutrients, Ames argues, sends the body into a ‘triage’ response to balance the metabolism. This damages the DNA, causes cancer and accelerates the ageing process, Ames said.
