Eating fish diet in infancy averts eczema risk

Eating a diet rich in fish as an infant could lower the risk of developing eczema in later life. Infant diets before six months of age are thought to have a strong impact on health development . The most recent research has been published in the Archives of Disease in Childhood.
Eczema is a prevalent skin condition that has risen sharply in developed countries in recent decades, according to the authors. Dietary and environmental factors are known to play a part in the development of health amongst young children .
To reach their conclusions, the researchers studied children who were part of the Infants of Western Sweden study. This research tracked health amongst some 17,000 babies. The team found that introducing fish into the diet before 9 months of age could lower eczema risk by 25 per cent.
