Five Super Diet Foods

With the lead up to Christmas, some of us are looking to diet and there are some great diet super foods.
Oats are a great, easy to digest super food. Unlike most other carbohydrates, oats are easy to digest and have minimal impact on your blood sugar.
Lentils are known to be a wonderful tummy flattener because they are high in protein and soluble fibre, nutrients which stabilise blood sugar levels.
Eating them helps combat insulin spikes which cause your body to generate excess fat, especially in the tummy area.
Apples: an apple a day can certainly keep the weight at bay, so a study from Penn State University at University Park showed. Study participants who ate an apple prior to a pasta meal ate fewer calories overall than those who had a different snack.
Chillies are a great way to spice up your meals and increase your metabolism. A compound in chillies called capsaicin causes the body to burn extra calories for 20 minutes after you have eaten chillies.
Plain yogurt is considered to be a perfect food. As it has a perfect combination of protein, fat and carbs, it can stave off hunger by maintaining steady blood sugar levels. In a study undertaken by the University of Tennessee, those on a low calorie diet which included yogurt lost 61 per cent more fat overall and 81 per cent more abdominal fat than those on a similar diet plan but without yogurt.
