How to Make Sure You Eat Your Five Daily Fruit and Veg Portions

We are all meant to include into our diet five portions of fruit and vegetables on a daily basis.
So how do you ensure that you are getting your 5 a day?
It can seem daunting as it sounds like a whole lot of fruit and vegetables. However, it is much easier than it sounds.
With reference to fruit:
1 pear is one portion;
1 banana equals one portion;
8 strawberries make up one portion;
3 satsumas constitute one portion;
1 standard tomato equates to one portion;
16 raspberries make up one portion and 22 grapes constitute a portion.
In terms of vegetables:
a 5cm slice of cucumber is one portion;
10 mushrooms are a portion;
2 medium florets of broccoli equate to one portion;
1 carrot is one portion;
1 quarter of an iceberg is one portion;
1 full little gem lettuce is one portion;
4 coooked beetroot equals one portion;
6 spring onions is one portion;
4 sticks of celery equals one portion and a 5cm slice of cucumber is a portion.
It is as simple as that. You do not have to eat mounds and mounds of fruit.
With a little bit of planning you can easily ensure that you can pop that extra fruit into your lunch box or have that extra fruit for as snacks .
With minimal foresight, you can buy in some extra vegetables and ensure you have a salad with at least a meal a day or salad by itself as a snack .
