A third of British women have admitted that they would select an overweight friend as their bridesmaid so that they them look comparatively thinner on their wedding day.
Many brides confess that they feel dissatified with their appearance in their wedding pictures, with 40 per cent stating that they felt insecure when standing next to slimmer guests.
These are some of the results from a survey undertaken by diet plan SlimFast.
Further results show that fifty per cent of brides diet prior to their wedding day, as do 20 per cent of the female guests.
Many stated that purchasing a new outfit helps to boost their self confidence, with 40 per cent adding that new shoes helped them feel better regarding their appearance.
These results are worrying in that women consider that there is a lot of pressure on them to look a certain way.
In addition, it is troubling that brides choose bridesmaids bigger than themselves to make them look thinner on that big day.
