Sugary Diet can Increase Blood Pressure Levels

A recent study has been conducted, titled “Increased Fructose Associates with Elevated Blood Pressure”, which considered the effects of fructose in our diet on our health .
Herein Dr. Jalal from the University of Colorado affirms there is a link between high fructose intake and increased blood pressure .
The research involved studying the fructose and blood pressure link in 4,528 adults with no history of hypertension .
The results suggest a heightened risk of high blood pressure with increased fructose consumption, that is, a 77% higher risk of blood pressure; more than or the equivalent to 160/100, which is deemed to be unhealthy.
Fructose is a natural sweetener found in fruits and honey. It is widely used as a sweetener in soft drinks, fruit juices, and cereal.
Healthy blood pressure is defined at as less than 120/80. High blood pressure is a known high risk factor for coronary artery disease, stroke, heart failure and chronic kidney disease .
