Relationship between Diet and Headaches

Science has demonstrated that our diets can be linked to headaches. Most of us know at least a person who shuns certain foods due to getting headaches triggered by those foods.
Scientific evidence now supports this link between food and headaches or migraines and other health issues. Certain culprits are ingredients in foods we eat on a daily basis.
Should you get headaches relatively often, it would be a good idea to read the small print and check what you eat before you do so. Below is a list of additives and the naturally occurring substances which are considered to cause problems:
– Nitrates found in processed meats like hot dogs, sausages and salami.
– Monosodium Glutamate, MSG, is an enhancer of flavour used frequently in Chinese food.
– Caffeine which is in coffee and colas.
– Tyramine, a naturally occurring substance, to be found in multiple foods including chocolate, cheese, particularly mature cheeses, and nuts.
– Alcohol can trigger headaches and of course hunger itself.
So be mindful what you eat, eat on a regular basis and try not to skip meals. Should you continue to get headaches, then get a check up from your GP.
