Is Sugar a Sweet or a Curse

Sugar is being blamed for everything from our obesity epidemic right through to depression .
It would appear that each time we open a newspaper or magazine, there is a yet another case being presented which highlights the demerits of sugar.
There is a strong case against sugar. However, is it as evil as it is being shown to be?
Sugar it self is not evil; the key is how much you consume.
Most of us are said to consume three times the amount we actually need to eat.
Should you look at dietary guidelines, given that you are an overall diet of 2,000 calories a day, you should not consume more than 30 grams of sugar, which is equivalent to 6 teaspoons.
Whereas, many of us have up to 21 teaspoons per day.
This does not mean we have up to 21 teaspoons of sugar stirred into our hot drinks.
We have lots of sugar in our processed foods, from cola to ice creams.
A can of cola can have up to 8 tablespoons of sugar in it.
