Sibutramine may still be available in the market place as the American Food and Drug Administration does not regulate products classified as dietary supplements.
Moreover, there are many weight loss products which are marketed as dietary supplements.
Such products should still be submitted to the FDA for approval as they contain sibutramine.
Sadly, as not every company follow the rules, products which contain sibutramine can still get into the marketplace.
Although Meridia, the brand name of sibutramine, has been withdrawn from the market, dietary supplements containing sibutramine may still be available, and could be harmful.
Despite the FDA attempting to keep such products out of the Amercian marketplace, it accepts the fact that it is not possible to test and identify every product which contains prescription drugs.
