Dieting has been discovered to be less effective without a good night’s sleep.
According to American researchers, getting a good night’s sleep is essential prior to dieting and exercise .
The study followed ten overweight, yet healthy volunteers aged between 35 and 49.
The researchers based at the University of Chicago discovered that once dieters had eight hours of sleep, more than 50 per cent of the weight they lost was fat .
However, when they reduced the number of hours they slept, just a quarter of their weight loss was from fat. The rest derived from muscle loss.
These results show that adequate sleep is crucial for weight loss, especially weight loss from fat.
These findings also go to prove that adequate rest is vital for an overall healthy lifestyle .
