A mother’s diet during pregnancy can alter the DNA of her child and increase the risk of obesity, according to researchers.
Should mums diets contain many carbohydrates this can changed parts of the child’s DNA. These children then become fatter. High levels of sugar in the diet of mums can also alter the DNA in babies.
This astounding finding helps to explain 25 per cent of the difference in 6 to 9 year olds children fatness.
It is essential that such women are provided with improved lifestyle and nutritional support.
It is vital that women per se are better educated about nutrition and lifestyle in order to improve the health of future generations, and to lower the risk of such conditions as diabetes and heart disease, which usually follow obesity.
