Jenny Craig and Weight Watchers were ranked the top two for best weight loss .
However, the DASH diet (Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension) was picked for its sustainable, long-term approach to diabetes prevention and management .
The American Heart Association and US National Institutes of Health endorse the DASH diet for anyone suffering from hypertension; it has been demonstrated that this diet can reduce high blood pressure in a fortnight.
The DASH diet involves eating a lot of fruits, veg, whole grain foods and low-fat dairy foods.
The diet also includes meat, poultry, fish, beans and nuts. However, it limits red meat, added fats, sugar-sweetened foods and drinks.
In addition, it discourages eating processed foods, suggesting healthy food alternatives instead.
