Fruit and Veg in Diet Mean Less Weight Gain

A diet consisting of more fruit and veg means less weight gain.
In a recent American study African American women were placed on diets and monitored for weight loss over a fourteen year period.
The women who were on a diet high in fruit and veg put on less weight over a fourteen year period than those who ate a diet high in red meat and fried foods.
This is the first such study which highlights that a more healthy diet is related to less weight gain in African American women, a segment of the population which has a high incidence of obesity .
The Black Women’s Health Study monitors 59,000 African American women throughout the USA and has been conducted since 1995.
A diet which is high in red meat and fried foods can trigger consumption of many excess calories as such foods contain more calories than their equivalent weight in fruit and veg.
