Including maple syrup in your diet means that you are promoting a healthy liver .
This is a finding of recent research from the University of Tokyo’s Graduate School of Agricultural and Life Sciences.
Lab rats fed a diet wherein some carbohydrate was replaced with pure Canadian maple syrup scored significantly better in liver function tests than the control groups who were on diets which contained a syrup mix of similar sugar content as maple syrup.
Pure maple syrup is considered to be a better choice of sweetener as it contains antioxidants, vitamins and minerals.
Livers get damaged due to poor diets, inadequate exercise and stress, as well as environmental pollutants.
These research findings highlight once again the relevance of opting for a healthy diet to help counteract the lifestyle and environmental factors that may impact liver function, even our choice of a sweetener .
