Cosmopolitan Germans now have a brand of low-fat foods which has encouraged many of them to “***k the diet”.
This rude profane slogan is being used to market Unilever’s Du darfst, or, you are allowed, range of allegedly healthy products.
This new ad informs German women that this product range is for “those who don’t want to hold back, those who want to eat until they are full.”
You are then shown accompanying images of beautiful women with lovely teeth eating low-fat spaghetti bolognaise.
The advert goes on to say “Why be bothered counting calories? You don’t have to do anything. Just help yourself: ***k the diet!”
There is a whole host of words, termed Denglisch, a mixture of English and German, which have crept into daily use by the Germans which appropriately summarise attitudes to dieting in Germany..
