Autumn diets could include plenty of baked goods

Brits may want to introduce plenty of baked goods to their diets as the days get darker and colder this autumn.
Alexia Robinson from Love British Food has noted this time of year is ideal for baking because the country is “bursting” with fresh seasonal produce.
Ms Robinson pointed out there are many British recipes perfect for this season, with venison pies likely to warm people up after a cold day and apple or plum crumbles serving as ideal comfort food.
She explained venison is in season between September and mid-February, adding: “With higher levels of iron and fewer calories than other red meats, venison is the perfect low fat protein boost to keep colds and flu away.”
The comments come during National Baking Week, which is running until October 21st and aims to get as many Brits as possible preparing their own food, with individuals encouraged to don their aprons with family, friends and even work colleagues.
Ms Robinson added people should not only use pumpkins at Halloween, as the cooking variants of the foodstuff could be used to make delicious pumpkin pies and are currently in season.
