Jennifer Lawrence Speaks out Against Calling People Fat

Jennifer Lawrence has risen into acting stardom fairly quickly over the last few years, fronting the Hunger Games film series which has exploded globally. But none of this stardom and fame seems to have gone to her head.
The 23 year old has a history of speaking out somewhat controversially and is not afraid to say things; there are some fantastic quotations from her rolling around the internet.
She recently tackled the subject of body image in the media during an interview with Barbara Walters. She said that “it should be illegal to call somebody fat on TV” due to the “effect it has on our younger generation”, causing them to want to slim down, or be ashamed of their body shape.
Jennifer has been labelled as “curvy” for her figure in the media, and stated that she will refuse to slim down for any acting roles, and will be insulted “if anyone even tries to whisper the word ‘diet'” to prepare for a role. Critics complained that her Hunger Games character Katniss Everdeen should have been thin and starving, but she refused to lose weight, aware that she would become a role model for a younger generation.
Despite this, Jennifer Lawrence, or “JLaw” as the media have named her, is anything but unattractive. She is right at the top end of AskMen’s Top 99 Most Desirable Women.
Lawrence is proving that you don’t have to be skinny to be pretty, and that the true reason for dieting has been lost in the face of the media storm that seems to demand size zero women.
Dieting should not be about slimming down to skeletal skinniness in order to be sexy, but about achieving, maintaining and enjoying a healthy lifestyle.
