Hollywood actress Gwyneth Paltrow has opened up about her diet secrets and admitted she does not allow her two children to consume carbohydrates .
According to the Daily Mail, the Oscar-winner claimed she avoids feeding rice, bread or pasta to her daughter Apple and son Moses because the substance is not good for them.
Paltrow, who is married to Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, is said to have admitted her little ones – aged eight and six respectively – are often left craving the food.
She said: “Sometimes when my family is not eating pasta, bread or processed grains like white rice, we’re left with that specific hunger that comes with avoiding carbs.”
The Shakespeare in Love actress explained her decision is based on the fact that her family – including Martin – is intolerant of gluten, dairy and chicken’s eggs.
However, some nutritionists have labelled Paltrow’s strict eating habits as “foolish” because children need to eat a varied and nutritious diet when they are still growing.
London-based public health nutritionist Yvonne Wake told the Daily Mail youngsters need carbohydrates because it gives them glycogen, which “keeps the brain going”.
