Scientists create weight loss chip

A computer chip that tells you when to stop eating is being developed by scientists.
The chip, which would be implanted in your arm, constantly checks for fat in the blood. When you have eaten too much, it releases a hormone that quells hunger pangs.
The journal Nature Communications reported that the chip led to obese mice eating less fatty food and losing weight as a consequence.
According to the Daily Mail, the Swiss researchers hope to create a chip to implant in a human’s arm within five to ten years, which would be the size of a coin.
The chip contains two genes that work together to regulate body weight. The first observes levels of fat in the blood, and when these reach a certain level the second gene makes an appetite suppressant. The research found that the mice no longer felt hungry and stopped eating.
A spokesperson for the Swiss researchers told the Daily Mail: “Humankind has a weight problem…increased blood fat values are considered a risk factor for heart attacks and strokes .”
It is hoped that the chip would be free of side-effects and replace diet pills and surgery.
