Alzheimer’s, the destructive memory-loss disease that can wreak havoc amongst families could be directly related to a Western diet. Fresh research indicates that those people who eat a diet rich in fruit, vegetables, omega-3 oils and fish are less likely to develop the disease.
Conversely, those people that consume high amounts of omega-6 oils, including sunflower and grape seed oil, double their likelihood of developing Alzheimer’s and dementia. Most people actually consume up to 30 times as much omega-6 as is good for them when they eat a western diet .
It has been clearly shown that diet radically influences how our brains develop in older age. Those people who consume nuts, flaxseed, canola oil and other good food can reduce their risk of dementia by over 60 per cent.
