Diet low in calories could fight skin cancer

According to recent reports, eating a diet lower in calories could strongly influence the rate of development of pre-cancerous skin cells. A US research team found that low-calorie diets can radically influence the prevention of skin cancer .
A study presented at the American Association for Cancer Research annual meeting in San Diego indicates that eating lower calorie levels influence activation of signalling pathways related to cancer .
University of Texas expert John DiGiovanni was reported as commenting: “These results, while tested in a mouse model of skin cancer, are broadly applicable to epithelial cancers in other tissues.” Mice involved in the trial were given low-calorie diets for a 17 week period.
