Victoria Beckham is the latest celebrity to try out a new alkaline diet .
The former Spice Girl and current fashion designer is believed to be following in the footsteps of Jennifer Aniston, Kirsten Dunst and Gwyneth Paltrow by taking up the Honestly Healthy Alkaline Programme.
As part of this regime, dieters attempt to keep their body’s pH between 7.35 and 7.45 by eating predominantly alkaline foods, drinking plenty of water and avoiding acid-forming produce such as pasta, meat, fish, wheat, beans and dairy products.
Beckham revealed details of her new diet when she tweeted her admiration for a recipe book by Vicki Edgson and organic chef Natasha Corrett – a publication that claims acidic foods put extra pressure on the liver and kidneys by forming acidic residues.
The star, who has four children – Brooklyn, Romeo, Cruz and Harper – to footballer husband David, posted on Twitter: “Love this healthy eating cook book!! X vb.”
Included in the book are 106 recipes, including cinnamon granola, artichoke and basil pizza, raw buckwheat and mung bean curry.
