According to a new study published in an American journal, a healthy diet rich in vegetables and oily fish can significantly reduce the chances of suffering from dementia in later life.
The study team found that eating a Mediterranean diet, or a diet loaded with beta-carotene supplements, could ward off dementia and fight brain damage with their powerful antioxidant properties.
A diet rich in vegetables, fruit and fish was found to be particularly effective in warding off dementia. One study, published in journal Neurology, found that those who consumed omega-3 oils were less likely to develop dementia.
Another study found that beta-carotene supplements were extremely effective in prolonging a healthy mental life.
