According to a recent study, eating a Mediterranean diet with lots of fish, fruit and grains could lower the risk of having asthma attacks.
The research team studied just under 175 asthmatics, and closely investigated their diet . Those who eat plenty of Mediterranean-style food were found to be just under 80 per cent less likely to see their asthma worsen.
The research was conducted at the University of Porto in Portugal, where asthmatics were quizzed on dietary habits. The report was published in the journal Allergy, and reportedly concluded: "High adherence to a Mediterranean diet reduced by 78 per cent the risk of uncontrolled asthma."
