Thu, 04 Sep 2008

According to a recent study in Finland, making even relatively small changes to diet, lifestyle and exercise could help to reduce abdominal obesity and metabolic syndrome, not to mention the risk of type 2 diabetes .

Metabolic syndrome is a dietary disorder that includes a variety of diabetes risk factors. These include higher waist circumference, higher blood pressure, higher bad cholesterol and blood sugar .

The research team at the Finnish Diabetes Association found a 15 per cent reduction in metabolic syndrome and abdominal obesity amongst overweight middle-aged women and men, following very minor dietary and exercise recommendations.
