Calories matter but the source of those calories does not matter. This is the finding of a latest American study.
Those who use set diet plans to lose weight, specifying rigid proportions of fat, carbohydrates and protein may not be adopting the best way for weight loss.
It is important if you want to lose weight to simply reduce your calorific intake.
Researchers discovered that there were no differences in weight loss or reduction of fat between four diets which had differing proportions of fat, carbohydrates and protein .
The key predictor for weight loss is 'adherence'. Those who adhered better lost more weight than those who did not.
Specific diets, especially those which had fewer carbohydrates worked better than others.
