Restricted calories diet convincing arguments

According to new diet research, restricted calories really could be the key to the ageing process and the risk of disease. The benefits of restricting calories are well known amongst animals, including monkeys.
The researchers carried out studies over a 20 year period. The US researchers noted a major effect of the diet – by reducing calories whilst maintaining nutrition the monkeys were found to be less likely to develop cancer, diabetes and other diseases.
Sterling Johnson of the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Medicine reportedly commented: “Both motor speed and mental speed slow down with ageing. Those are the areas which we found to be better preserved. We can’t yet make the claim that a difference in diet is associated with functional change because those studies are still ongoing. What we know so far is that there are regional differences in brain mass that appear to be related to diet .”
