The American Food and Drug Administration this week warned against a variety of online weight loss products. Each of the thirty or so listed by the regulator contains dangerous, illegal or unlisted ingredients .
Most of the diet pills are advertised as natural ways to lose weight, with some touted as traditional remedies from Asia. Diet pills of this type often promise unfeasible weight loss .
The FDA slammed the drugs, saying that the concoctions could contain many unlisted ingredients including carcinogens. An FDA lawyer, Michael Levy, reportedly commented: "When consumers are buying these products online, we're telling them that if it sounds too good to be true, it is likely to be too good to be true."
